Harry Truman was justified in dropping the Atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.

i agree the atomic bomb was developed after president roosevelt died and was dropped august 6th 1945 roosevelt had died in april of that year.
ReplyDeleteI think that Harry Truman was justified and had a good reason for dispatching the nuclear weapon because if Harry Truman launched a full scale invasion on the mainland of Japan there would be heavy casualties for the U.S. since island-hopping to Japan led Japanese to create heavy beach fronts in the likely event of a full-scale invasion. Since they were ready for the invasion The United States would be at a heavy disadvantage and more resources probably invasion than making the Fat boy and Little man bombs, this prevents U.S. from sustaining potentially expensive costs. Even though many civilians perished under the nuclear winter I think that many more would have died if U.S. attacked Japan with raw power.

i agree and disagree with Harry Truman's decision to launch the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It shows that the U.S. was a major world power. Though the bomb killed many innocent people that had nothing to do with it, it was a message to Japan and the world, saying not mess around with the U.S. because they will defend themselves very harshly in order to get a message through.
I think Harry Trumans decision can be justified because of Japan's surprise attack on Pearl Harbor and how it completely devestated our nation, plus the Japanese invasion of Alaska in 1943 where they tried to advance on us through the pacific. In order to send a powerful message and stop the war, he used our most powerful bomb, which successfully caused the Japanese to surrender to us.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Truman's decision. Droping the bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was the right thing to do and the act that any good president would do after the vicious attack on Pearl Harbor. If we didnt retaliate with greater force then we would make the U.S Defense look weak and brittle.
ReplyDeleteEven though thousands of innocent people were killed in these bombings, I think that it was the right idea. It showed that the U.S. was not to be messed with and that anything that happened to us, well just come back with more. I don't blame Harry Truman at all. It was the right decision.
ReplyDeleteIn a way it was justified because if we did not bomb those cities Japan would of kept on fighting and more people could have been killed on both sides. It should only be a last resort if we are to use an atomic bomb
ReplyDeleteIf the Bomb was never dropped, the Us wouldve continued island hopping and the war wouldve never ended. it also wouldve meant that more casualties on both ends would add up. The Japanese were all trained to never stop at anything, even death. Trumans decision was the best decision that he couldve made, and to this day still many praise his militaristic stand put for what he did in WW2.
ReplyDeletei think even though it happened in a violent way, Harry Truman showed revenge by dropping the bomb, showing that the U.S. doesn't give up so easily. I think it was only fair to show countries like this that if we get an attack, we will come back as powerful and as strong as they are.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Harry Truman was justified in his orders to drop atomic bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Without them, the Japanese would fight to the very end, resulting in heavy casualties on both the American and Japanese side. The bombs broke the spirit and eagerness that the country had retained throughout the world war, and forced them into total submission.
ReplyDeleteAlthough it was incredibly destructive, i think that Harry Truman was justified in dropping the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Because the Japanese devastated our country, i think that they got what they deserved. Dropping the bombs showed the other countries that the US is an extremely strong nation that they shouldn't mess with, and also ended the war faster.
ReplyDeleteI think that his reason to drop the atomic bomb was just in ways and not just in others. Since Japan attacked Pearl Harbor we had to retaliate in some way and dropping the atomic bomb was a perfect was to get back at Japan for killing US military troops. The reason that it was not right to do is that Japan only killed military members and not civilians. When we dropped the atomic bomb it was in the middle of a city with Japanese citizens instead of just military.
ReplyDeleteI think that the dropping of the Atomic bomb is just. I believe so due to the message that this attack sent to other nations, including Japan. Firstly, it demonstrated the power that America held, and showed what they could do if other countries decide to turn against. Additionally, by using such a powerful weapon in an area with a low population density, the scare eventually saved casualties. The bomb told other countries not to mess with the U.S., which avoided many battles that could have resulted in a high casualty rate.
ReplyDeleteYes it was very necessary because if it had no been done japan was willing to fight until everyone was dead. It was much more effective than any massive ground based launch of infantry. It was the only way to truly put them into a shock that would force them to surrender. Not much else to be said,... you could even say it was equal payback from the bombing at pearl Harbor.
ReplyDeletei agree with harry truman, because if we had not dropped the atomic bombs in hiroshima and nagasaki because if troops had island hopped to japan their would have been even more deaths than just droping the bombs.
ReplyDeletei think the decision to use the atomic weapons was a smart move. look at how many US men were killed in pearl harbor and the civilans also killed. rather than risk more of our mens lives fighting a war he used an atomic bomb to save some US lives. ither way it is a grosseome end to war that had a grossome beginning
ReplyDeletei agree that it was justified because it was good to send japan a message for doing what they did in pearl harbor. and not just to japan it was also a very strong message to the world that we have the powewr to defen ourselves..and also another reason to drop the bomb was to save americans because if they landed in japan for war they would have had to fight the army, woman, children, and men and that would have highered the death rate for americans in the war
